Surprisingly the flight to France was not bad, and the 8 hour layover nothing more than an oppertunity to relax and get a good read in. The biggest shocker of the day was the plane food - some of the best I have ever had (and yes grandma I ate the whole roll). The rest of the day and trip across the pond was delightfully uneventful. After we arrived we ate lunch at a cafe overlooking the arc de triomphe. After taking typical touristy photos and staring upwards for an indeterminable amount of time, we decided to continue our journey to Angers. The tree hour drive passed quickly enough and we made it post - nighfall. The city at first glance looks charming and will be explored in further detail tomorrow (by the light of day). After arriving in Angers we met our host families and returned to their homes. My host parents and sister are very nice ... especially considering that they have to put up with my rusty french. My room is cool with a skyligh that opens over my bed and looks out into the city. I share the 3rd floor, a mini kitchen, and a bathroom with the chinese student that I believe is arriving tomorrow. The previous pictures are from the plane ride, and Paris. Enjoy!

What's in a name?
Some of you might be wondering about the name of my newly minted blog, "Le Blog de Fanny." The first bit is pretty simple, its french (which seemed appropriate considering my destination. Fanny, however, is a longer story. As part of my most recent french class, each student chose a virtual person (or avatar if you will). That virtual person was then used in various writing assignments throughout the course of the class. Consequently, my virtual person was named Fanny Pack. This catchy name took hold, and pretty soon even my french professor occasionally referred to me by it. With class ending and the Fanny Pack chapter of my life (with all its literary adventures) nearly closed I could not help but give the student from New Zealand one last tribute. As a result I have named my blog le blog de Fanny (translation: Fanny's Blog).
